Idea and Project Competition Rhine Promenade Kleinbasel
Competition
The Rhein Promenade on the side of Kleinbasel is in a bad constructional condition. With the new usage of the Kinderspital area at Schaffhauserrheinweg greater changes are coming up. Therefore the council for planning has introduced a competition in May 2010 to get a rough concept for the development of the whole promenade between Solitude and Dreirosenbrücke (The three roses bridge).
3. Rank to Klötzli Friedli Landschaftsachitekten (landscape architects)
The planning team under the supervision of Klötzli Friedli Landschaftsarchitekten (landscape architects), Bern mit Wiederkehr und Partner, Lichtplanung, Spiez and WAM planners and engineers AG received the 3. Rank with their project “PANTA RHEIn” in the end.
Abstract of the Award Jury`s Report
«All in all, the project had many positive approaches and individual ideas, thus the described limitations. It represents a worthy contribution to provide the City of Basel with an unmistakable river panorama and to realize a vital promenade scenery.»
